When someone does you a surpise favour, what will your response be?
1) Brilliant!
2) Cool!
3) Steady lah!

Kinda noticed this over the past few weeks.
The Brits go Brilliant!
The Americanised ones go Cool!!!
And me goes....
Steady lah!

Ha, guess I will never be able to get rid of the singlish speaker in me.....
AND PROUD OF IT!
At least I know my roots, unlike those who pick up funny accents and lingos and when you ask them where they picked it up from, thinking that they had spent many years abroad, the tell you they picked it up from cable. What loosers. They REALLY do exist in Singapore, and that is terribly sad...
There is nothing worse that someone who is ashamed of his roots.

Not going to be in the mood for blogging for the next few days. For both today and yesterday and the days likely to come, i have been working in the office till seven odd. No more time to do anything. Simply too tired.
Terrible experience getting stranded last night.
London SERIOUSLY has a major transport problem.
Looks like i will get to go back at about eight today if i am lucky.
Sigh....
Hope you guys have better days.

Was reading the papers this morning on my way to work and came across this.
The females may be interested in paying this site a visit.
According to the newspaper, Metro, Wed Aug 14, 2002, page 3
David Becham = 4.5 to 5.2 Small
Dermont O'Leary = 5.3 to 5.9 Medium
Ian Thorpe (the super swimmer at the commonwealth games with 9 gold medals i think) = 7.7 - 8.3 XXL

I cannot seem to run it cos the computers here too slow and hangs on entering the site.
Have to wait for the new computers to be hooked onto the college network before I can really go in.
Have fun!

Someone sent this to me.
Ha ha ha

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens couldn't work on zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the writing surface). In order to solve this problem, they hired Andersen Consulting (Accenture today). It took them one decade and 12 million dollars. They developed a pen that worked on zero gravity, upside down, under water, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

The Russians used a pencil...

Since the computers at the hall have been totally removed, i decided not to go home so early last night. Went to look at the surrounding of my new place. I will be collecting the keys to the place next week. Have to say that its really far and lost in the middle of nowhere. The bus transtport there all seem to go to places that I don know and many of them come from further out. The buses there come from places like cockfosters which is in zone six and at the end of the picidally line and places like that. But that is about the only bad thing about the place, it is inaccessible.

The new place is essentially on the top of a hill in north london. When i was going up the hill on the bus, it felt like going up victoria peak in HK. There were houses on the left facing downslope, and a conversation woods on the right. At the foot of the hill, there is this huge garden and palace. Just realised that it is a tourist attraction, though i have never heard of it. Alexander Palace. Never hear before right? But got alot of AA signboards pointing to it lor. Cool place right?

At the peak of the hill or thats whats its called, i think its higher than Bukit Timah Hill, coz i can see so far down, is a circus. Its something like serangoon garden circus, It has a bus terminus/interchange though its small and can accomodate 3 buses at a time. Around the circus are all shops. Mostly banks and the middle/ upper class restruants. Just off the circus on the main street is a Marks and Spencer. Cool right?
It even has a little Odeon cinema off the hight street.
Opp the Marks and Spencer is where i will live.
on the house beside the stone and red brick church that turned into a O'Neil pub. On the house on my left, is a montossorri School.
Cool right?

I am so going to love living there.

Ah, Went to the computer cluster last night to check my mail and suddenly realised that the whole palce has been closed. there is not a single computer left in the library, not to mention that I think they have closed the library too, coz most of the books are not there anymore and that the place now looks like a dump. Life sucks.

Had to travel one hour to get to this starbucks internet cafe that I am currently at. The travelling wasnt so bad. Anyway, its sunday and I woulc have done well getting out of my little cubby hole, considering that if i din have to come out, I would just be rotting at home playing the conmputer game.

The connection seems to be the same speed as my school comp which really sucks. How come they cannot seem to make connections like those in NTU or at least NUS standard, where a webpage and stuff dont take ages to download? Guess they just decided to get one normal cable line and the split it between something like 20 comps. I can see up to no 18 beside me and think there are 2 more behind me.

My screen at the moment is a small 14 inch crappy old screen. Cos i don have membership, he don give me the nice 18 inch screens or one of the 2 the flat LCD screens. Its terrible. i swear that i am seeing double. The screen is so small but the setting of the tings also so small, I can barely see the words that I am typing. Wonder whats up with computers in this country. Is it just general crap and backward , or am i expecting too much coz i have been brought up in an efficent and organised country. The comp in my work place is so bad that it cannot even run ICQtoGo. Can you imagine that?

Went out for the past 3 days, bringing some friends around and took some photos with the digital cam, mainly of them. I am currently in an Unfit for camera stage. Will try to put them up when I can get connection off my own comp. Don trust logging into my domain control in a public computer. Scared of those little password programmes. Call me paranoid, but I just don want to risk it.

Getting used to being alone liao.

Survived for 2 weeks.

Just hate it when ppl sms me to tell me they havign a good time in this and that holiday destination.

Got to go. My hour's up.

Off work early today. Din do anything constructive. Just managed to bum for a whole day in the lab without doing anything and getting on anyone nerves. That IS an achievement. I usually end up getting in ppl way and on their nerves. All the scientists are so touchy. Even changing the radio channel can earn me a black face. Maybe its just that I did too drastic a change. Classical to Kiss FM. Hmm...

Does not matter anyway.

Seems to be alot of seagulls in London today. Saw one outside the Royal London and now can hear some at Charterhouse Square now...

Just came back from dinner with a good friend. Feels good to be out of halls once in a while. I am usually cooped up in my hall room nowadays and don have much of a dinner. Dinner is usually what I can find in a can or the buy one get one free pizzas from the supermarket that just needs to be bunged in the oven.

Saw 2 foxes frolicking on the lawn just now. Went back upstairs to get my camera but by the time I came down, I could not find them anymore. Drats. Thinks its kinda cute, 2 foxes living in the middile of the city of London, surrounded by the odd lawn and lots of banking and financial headquarters. Heard from the friend that she always sees these foxes around whenever she come round here. Wonder why I have not seen them since I moved in so long ago.

Anyway, the digital camera has been installed successfully in my comp, but just that the images downloaded are way too large. I need to find some other way yo shrink them down in size before I can attempt to put them up on the web. To make matters worse, I am still not connected to the net via my laptop, so I will need to search high and low for the password for my webspace and then have to upload it from the school comp. I don really trust the school comp coz I got my ICQ hacked into after I used it on the school comp, so meyeb I will wait till I get my own line. (which i have no idea when)

Life as per normal. Nothing much else to complain about. (ha for once).

Going back to room liao.

Still have to go to lab early tomorrow morning to feed hungry things...

Hmm, typed on and on just now and the the thing jsut dissappered. Don think its blogger fault this time. Think it has something to do with my school computers that I am hacking away at the moment. Hmm what about these computers. I think school going for look only. They have a 17 inch flat screen (Flat screen not equal to LCD. Its just a normal monitor but the screen is not curved) a celeron 1.3 GHZ processor, Windoes 2000 and oops thy forgot the most important thing called memory chips. The dammed things looks nice but always crash or hang halfway, coz the school decided that since they spent so much upgrading the monitors and the processors, they will save on the memory chips. Apparently someone NEEDS to tell them that computers other than needing fast processors, its no use if you don have enough memory to even run netscape 4.3 with blogger.

Back to where I started off.

I was right last week that the underground decided not to work. Apparently, it will not be working for the whole of this summer in the weekends because of some redevelopment work for King Cross station. This was supposed to have gone on for quite some time but its just that I was living in another world that just happened to be physically located in between the 2 financial capitals of London. nuff said.

Still managed to get to the train station on time, meybe coz I took a long detour and i gave myself one and a half hour for an journey that would normally take only 10 mins. I was betting with ppl that Virgin trains will be late again as usual and so they were. We were late in leaving euston station coz they engine was busted the moment we tired to set off and they had to get another one. Well done. Think the loco that blew up was called 'Spirit of Cumbria' Anyways, so we started off later than expected and then things went on as normal for a while until suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, think its called Tring or something like that, the second loco blew up. We were stuck. To make matters worse, it was summer and the carriage that I was in, togeher with 3 other carriages happened to have their air conditioner/ventilation system conked out. Argh.

Okay, so now, the train has stopped and there was no ventilation. The stupiud thing about the train is that it also happens to have NO windows for ventilation. So what to do. We din know what happened. All we knew was that the train has stopped and no one told us anything. Waited for about 15 mins before the train manager decided to tell us that the engine belw up AGAIN. As we were in some sort of station like thing, some of the passengers decided to get out for some air while we waited for them to send up a new loco engine. Ooh,,, Idiots decided to disengage the messed up loco and that triggered a security feature that locked all the doors of the carriages. We were effectively locked up in a overheated carriage, with no ventilation and no way to get out. Talk about a Screwed up train company. Well, anyways, some of the passengers after some time managed to set off the emergenct exits and then jumped onto the platform.

Its amazing how the Brits like theit bit of sun. Those that managed to get onto the platform, the guys actually took off their shirt for a tan, and some of the gals too. Think they are weird, when i can figure out how to downolad the pictures, then I will post them up here.

In the meantime, i will contiune the story another day, coz i HATE the disgusiting, blacked and sticky keyboard. Had enough of it for a day, and don want to go on too much in case the blogger loose my stuff again.
